I Almost Gave Up Hope

“I’m very sad because my husband is an alcoholic,” Andrea shared with us online. “Our whole family is suffering because of his addiction.”

Andrea is one of dozens of people who, in the course of a week, reached out to us through our online Facebook campaign. Cru Slovenia (as Agape is known here) is using online tools to connect with people who are far from God. Our hope and aim is to share the life-changing message of Jesus with them.

During our interaction with Andrea, we shared Luke 5:17-27. In the passage, some men lower their paralyzed friend down to Jesus through an opening in the roof. Jesus forgives the man’s sins and heals him, shocking the Pharisees and amazing everyone else. At the end of the story we read, “And amazement seized them all, and they glorified God and were filled with awe, saying, ‘We have seen extraordinary things today.’”

We asked Andrea what stood out to her about God in the passage, and she said:

God is alive, and He still does miracles.

As we continued interacting, Andrea told us, “You helped me a lot. Thank you. I almost gave up hope. Your prayers and encouragement have meant so much to me. I’m going to share this story with my kids and co-workers.”

The same God who healed the paralyzed man and amazed the crowd is still bringing healing and doing extraordinary things today. God is advancing His kingdom across Slovenia. And we are tremendously encouraged to join Him in the work He’s doing as He draws Slovenes to Himself.
