Hanover, Germany
October marked the end of the EXPO 2000, the World's Fair, in Hannover, Germany, where the Pavilion of Hope (a joint effort of the German Evangelical Alliance, YMCA Germany and World Vision Germany) was visited by 940,000 guests. Through the project "Know Hope," innovative and interactive approaches were used to reach out to the visitors.
An eleven-year old boy approached a volunteer who offered him a video and asked, "What is this?" When she explained that it was about Jesus, he countered, "Who
|
is Jesus?" In the moments that followed, the German boy listened eagerly to her explanation of the greatest news ever given to mankind.
Approximately 317,000 German JESUS videos and 20,000 other language copies were accepted and taken home by the guests. It is estimated that 1.5 million people will watch the video.
Agape teams were involved in the Communication Island four hours every day during the five months of EXPO.
