This has been an encouraging few months for summer projects in Europe, for it seems God is creating greater openness to the gospel in some areas. In Salerno, Italy, for instance, the summer project began with a bang, as 12 students indicated decisions to receive Christ in the first week. And the responsiveness didn't end there by the end of the project the project members had explained the gospel to 133 students, of whom 39 indicated decisions to receive Christ. The Americans had boldly gone around campus asking people if they spoke English, and if they did, taking a short survey built around the concept of whether a person can offend God. Now the new STINT team coming in will follow up these new believers.
Meanwhile, over in Spain, a similar thing was happening in Granada, only this time with a summer project team from Venezuela. The Venezuelans spoke on campus about their culture, demonstrated traditional Venezuelan dances, and presented a cultural program in a local park. Though the Venezuelans found Spaniards not as responsive as people in their own country, some half a dozen students did indicate decisions to follow Christ, and left their cell phone number and email address. Miguel Angel Medina, a Spanish campus ministry intern, will seek to follow them up this fall.
