Switzerland

God is at Work
Campus für Christus Switzerland was founded 1973 with Lay Institutes for Evangelism. 1976 Hanspeter and Vreni Nüesch launched the Campus ministry. Since 1983 Hanspeter has been serving as National Director. From the beginning, his vision was to launch "movements of uncontrollable blessing" in Switzerland and beyond. Three faith goals guide the 120 full time staff who serve in 22 different ministries:

1. Win - Mission minded fellowships in all 2,800 Swiss municipalities that constantly reach out to their communities in prayer and evangelism

2. Build - Spirit-filled leaders in all segments of society who build movements of multiplication and transformation

3. Send - Spiritual rivers to the world by providing people, tools, know-how and finances to help build local movements of evangelism, church-planting and transformation

Ministries in Switzerland

Agape International: Our biggest ministry reaches out to the world by partnering with the local people in evangelism, humanitarian aid, leadership-training and church planting. Currently we sponsor some 900 full time workers in Russia, China, Nepal, Cuba, Francophone Africa and the Islamic World. We have resident staff in North Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Mongolia, China, Bolivia, Cuba, Argentina, Lebanon, Afghanistan and France.

Alphalive: Currently over 600 churches of all denominations run evangelistic Alphalive courses that consists of 10 evenings in a private setting and one weekend. Through a yearly national outreach in autumn, beginning 2005, with the support of a media campaign, every Swiss should have the opportunity to get to know Jesus in a group environment.

Athletes in Action: AiA is using the language of sports to communicate the gospel to athletes, coaches and fans alike. AiA offers evangelistic tools, counseling, Bible-training in regional centers, camps and evangelistic outreaches. AiA staff serve regularly as chaplains in World Championships and Olympic Games.

Campus Generation: Our youth ministry is reaching out to the hundreds of secondary schools and helps the believers to build a strong witness for Christ in the schools by providing evangelistic strategies and tools and personal advice.

Campus live: Our university ministry uses innovative approaches to reach students and faculty for Christ like skiing camps and need-oriented seminars. The course "Effective Study" is now been widely used in many other countries too as the first contact for the freshmen. The launching of student churches help to build deeply into the lives of students.

Central Ministries: Several ministries are centralized and assist the different field ministries: Finances, Human Resource, Staff Training, Publishing as well as the use of Internet for information as well as evangelism. The central ministries also provide management help outside of our Swiss ministry, e.g. in the context of the European All Staff Conference 2006.

Crescendo: Our outreach to the Classical Musicians and the artists generally is the result of a revival within our Student ministry in Basel in the Eighties when many students of music came to know Christ. Now Crescendo is active in more than 20 countries, reaching out to the musicians and increasingly the artists in general, equipping them and sending them as witnesses for Christ into the world of culture.

Christliches Zeugnis: Our quarterly magazine addresses central topics like Discipleship, Evangelism, Unity, Reconciliation, Humility, Generosity, Networking, Faith, Love, Holy Spirit, Father-God, First Love etc, giving a platform to Christians of all churches and walks of life.

Evangelistic Speaking: The team of evangelists consists of a senior and a younger evangelist who share the Gospel of Christ through public speaking. They do this of-ten in the context of public events like a car rally or so. They address contemporary topics in innovative ways also using all kind of media.

EXPLO-conferences: Inspired by the worldwide EXPLO 85 where Switzerland was one of 90 sites, from time to time EXPLO conferences are held in either Lausanne or Basel. In so far 6 EXPLO conferences some 40,000 Swiss Christians could be trained in prayer, evangelism and discipleship. Parts of EXPLO 91 and EXPLO 2000 were broadcast internationally and reached millions of people.

FamilyLife: FamilyLife ministers to (future) couples and families by providing basic knowledge to teenagers, preparing future couples for marriage, empowering couples in their marriages and inspiring parents in their responsibility of education. A special emphasis is laid on the Spirit-filled life and the involvement in the Great Commission.

History's Handful: Our ministry to the executives wants to help the business leaders to develop and use their great potential in helping to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus by providing labor, influence, finances and expertise. We also provide training in different areas. Over 12,000 people so far received training in Biblical Management.

Hospital Ministry / Health Care: "Christen im Dienst an Kranken" (Christians ministering to Sick) reaches out to the nurses and doctors in the hospitals equipping them to be able to minister Christ's love to the people in need. They lay a special emphasis on prayer and evangelism. Recently a training school for alternative healing therapies was established to counter the esoteric New Age approaches.

Institut Koinonia: Institut Koinonia focuses on developing leadership qualities and coaching Christian and secular organizations in purpose driven leadership. Several thousand leaders and pastors have been trained in fatherly type leadership and comprehensive evangelism including healing of the whole person.

JESUS Film Project: The JESUS film ministry develops church based outreaches to give everyone the opportunity to get to know the Gospel and be followed up in small groups or through Alphalive courses. A special focus is laid on reaching the 25 % foreigners in Switzerland providing them with a copy of the JESUS film in their mother tongue.

Männerforum: Inspired by the blessing of the American "Promise Keepers," a similar movement among men was started, challenging them to lead pure, Spirit-filled lives and to lead their families in a servant, Christ-like attitude. In seminars, 50 regional chapters and national conferences men learn how to be accountable to God and their families; in prayer cells they learn how to be accountable to brothers.

New Life Network: In the context of EXPLO 91 we found out that secular TV-stations all over the world have a great need to obtain good and cheep programs for families. New Life Network collects the best programs from over 60 Christian producers and offers them to the TV-stations all over the world. Especially TV-stations in China, Russia, Eastern Europe, the Arabic World and Francophone Africa make great use of this offer, broadcasting Christian programs on a regular basis.

New Life Training Centers: Our five regional "Schulen für Gemeindemitarbeit" (Schools for Church Ministry) develop leaders in the context of local churches who assist the pastors in the development of Great Commission churches. The schools last two years and can be attended beside the normal job. The students receive regular mentoring in the application of the lessons learned.

Prayer Ministry: Since the Here's Life Campaigns in the Eighties, where over 800 church based prayer seminars were held resulting in over 4,000 evangelistic Bible fellowships, prayer has always played a prominent role in the Swiss ministry. Regularly all Swiss staff comes together for days of exchange and prayer. Once a year we help to assemble several thousand Christians in Switzerland for a day of prayer. Every year we encourage the Christians to use the 40 days before Easter for prayer and fasting sending out a daily Biblical guideline.

Tim-Team: "The things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others." This sums up the vision of our church resource ministry Tim-Team. Tim-Team wants to help build spiritual movements in the context of churches. Our staff help build deep disciples who are aflame for Jesus, rooted in the Word of God and able to pass it on to their disciples in turn.

Woman-Breakfasts: Started in 1983, the women's breakfasts reach out to women by an evangelistic talk, a testimony, music and eating breakfast together. In some 40 sites including one in Fürstentum Liechtenstein, women's breakfasts are regularly held. Interested women are followed up in small groups or are invited to attend an Alphalive course. Starting from Switzerland, in many countries in Europe and beyond similar events are held where women reach out to women.

Christustag (Christ's Day): The coordination of the follow up of the 2,800 flag bearers who pray for their political communities, assisted by prayer partners, falls into the responsibility of our movement. A special focus is laid on the encouragement and training of the 70+ regional coordinators who in turn assemble the flag bearers in their areas once or twice a year. Christustag.04 was held on 13 June 2004 in Basel and assembled over 40,000 Christians for prayer and repentance. A film of the central flag rally was broadcast internationally as an integrated part of the Global Day of Prayer at Pentecost Sunday 15 May 2005.
